The N.I.S.L. would like to send our deepest condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Tony Dallas, a member of the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame and great advocate of soccer in our community, who has recently passed away.

Tony started a professional career in soccer playing for AO Kastoria in Greece when he was just 15 years old. His professional career continued in both Europe and the United States, where he later played on the Chicago Horizon Indoor Soccer team. While practicing with the team at the local Odeum Sports & Expo Center in Villa Park, he developed a close relationship with the owners of the Odeum, the Grecos family, and would go on to become the full-time Sports Director of the facility.

Throughout his career at the Odeum, he became a beloved member of our local soccer community and will be sorely missed.

A great article about his life was printed in the Chicago Tribune when he was inducted in to the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame back in 2012.

Injuries in youth sports are bound to happen. About 5.5 million injuries require medical care for young athletes each year in the U.S.
The problem is that many coaches are not properly trained to make the right decision on the field. The result is that each year up to 2 million young athletes are sent back in to play before they are ready, turning a mild injury into something that can result in weeks or months of lost playing time.
